Singer/songwriter, actress and producer Rita Wilson and NASCAR’s Darrell and Stevie Waltrip serve as prerace dignitaries for Sunday’s FOX NASCAR iRACING event from virtual Bristol Motor Speedway via video from their respective homes.

Stevie is Darrell's wife. Boogity.

Well, now here's something that might make the news.

While doing some sort of iRacing thing, Kyle Larson said to his spotter: "You can't hear me? Hey n---."

Unfortunately for poor Kyle, all of the participants heard it.

His team has suspended him without pay and he has to go to sensitivity training. He has apologized, of course. I wonder if they will fire him over this. It was rather dumb.

For what it's worth, Mr. Larson is half Japanese.

Sad to report that I no longer work at Texas Motor Speedway. It was a great 6 years. I’ll miss all my friends and teammates at the track. Looking forward to another season at SMU and whatever the next adventure may be. Hopefully you’ll hear me soon!

I always kind of liked Dick Hicks. I saw him once irl at the Precinct Line Home Depot. Cool, huh?Seems like he's been at TMS more than 6 years. Hate to hear it, unemployment is unnerving like a mug.

I've heard him on an ad for the last couple of days but I can't think of what it's for at the moment.

Racing begins again May 17 at Darlington with no fans.

Scheduling is going to be kinda odd with some racing on weeknights, and the first few races will be only at Darlington and Charlotte.

I am pretty happy about this.

That's pretty cool! I've seen stories that many school have just cancelled their ceremonies altogether.

I can attest that at most graduation ceremonies, you just end up watching the big screen anyway. When Titette graduated, we were seated on the opposite end of the arena from the stage and the only decent video we could get of her was on the big screen.

Today was the last of the iRacing series, and it was at North Wilkesboro of all places. Denny Hamlin won.

North Wilkesboro is a 5/8 mile short track where they raced from the first season of 1949 until 1996. A guy name Bruton Smith bought the track, closed it, and moved one of the races to his new track in Texas. This pissed off a lot of people.

The track was in disrepair with grass growing through the pavement and needed to be bulldozed. Dale Junior bought a shitload of Roundup and got the grass out of the pavement, then some geeks scanned the track so iRacing could happen there. And yesterday it did and it was a big success.

The only bad thing is, there are a ton of people crying for real racing to come back there.

It can't. I love this old track but it's not feasible.

I am glad they did iRacing here.

They are back to racing on Sunday and the race is at Darlington. The green drops at around 2:45 our time, which seems kinda late for an east coast race. They had some sort of convoluted drawing for starting spots that kinda sorta depended on owner points.

This is one of my favorite tracks, and I will be a-watching.

Stay away from this race.

They did race today at Darlington and Harvick won it. The race itself wasn't very close, but it was racing. Matt Kenseth came out of retirement to replace Kyle Larson and pulled a very respectable 10th. I learned a day or so that Kenseth was actually the second choice to drive that car: they approached Carl Edwards first. I like both drivers so I'm happy either way. Kenseth is 48 years old.

Nascarcasm summed up Kenseth's performance with this tweet:

@mattkenseth is the dad that walks into the music store with his kid and picks up a guitar and says “I used to play a while ago, let’s see here...” and then plays “Eruption” by Van Halen note for note.

I think they race again at Darlington on Wednesday, but I also think it might rain.

The minor leaguers race there on Tuesday and it's supposed to rain then, too.

Wednesday night they raced at Darlington again, and the race was ended early by rain with 20 laps to go. It was an interesting race.

Everyone is talking about the mysterious act of Kyle Busch, who managed to knock out Chase Elliott on the straightaway. It was one of the oddest things I've ever seen. Kyle is considered the best driver in NASCAR so that just adds to the strangeness. Mr. Elliott gave Kyle the finger as he passed by the next time. I cackle-laughed when it happened.

Kyle apologized and said he messed up. Many fans aren't believing it was an accident, and an online storm has erupted. These people are stupid. Kyle is in my bottom 5, but that wasn't intentional.

Here's a crazy video from some guy named Randy the Plumber. Bad language warning.

Sat through the entire World 600, which had an oddball ending. Chase Elliott was leading and about to win, but a late-race yellow happened and everybody had to decide whether to pit for tires which would make them faster, or not pit and be ahead of the cars that took new tires.

Chase's crew chief elected to pit with just a handful of laps left. Other drivers chose to stay out, and Chase lost.

Late-race pitting is a roll of the dice. Except for this race. This was a dumb decision.

Interestingly, Kyle Busch was seen talking to Chase after the race. I'm guessing he was consoling him.

Crazy races like this are why I love NASCAR.

Those cars aren't air conditioned, either. And they generate plenty of heat on a nice day. I know the drivers wear some sort of cool suits nowadays, but it still gets hot as crap inside.

I hate ALL halls of fame and NASCAR is probably number one on my list. Today they named three inductees:

Dale Earnhardt, Jr.
Red Farmer
Mike Stefanik

Farmer and Stefanik were big in the lower series and deserve it.

June Bug won 26 races at the top level and they had to cheat for that to happen. The best he ever finished in the Championship standings was third. Overrated again.

This is Hoob, and I hate all Halls of Fame.

I'm not familiar with NASCAR's HoF standards. Are there many other drivers inducted with such spare stats? And where do you fall on whether Danica should go in?

I thought the same thing. The drivers have all come out in support of Bubba, which is good. Tony Stewart and June Bug have been very vocal about it. Good for them.

I hate to be this way, but the possibility of this being planted came to mind.

Yesterday there are some guy flying a banner over the track that had the stars and bars on it. It made me laugh, and for some reason I started thinking about the titty bars that used to do that when the Ballpark in Arlington first opened.

This morning I heard that it was actually hanging up and not just laying on the ground or table (like say, if someone threw it in there while walking by). Come to find out it's actually the pull rope for the garage door. Someone made a noose at the end of it some time ago because it's been there since at least 2019. Now all the outrage seems silly.

Congratulations, Bubba, you played yourself.

Tony Stewart is all over social media with Leah Pritchett, a drag racer (insert joke here). He's 49, she's 32 and I had never heard of her. She kind of has bony face but she IS 32.

A few days ago was a picture of them in the sack together.

Today they had a picture of them standing on a race track. I said out loud, "dang, he actually gets to put his wiener in that?"

Meanwhile, I'm out chasing grannies.

I think they're racing 5 or 6 road courses this year and they already ran on the one at Daytona last week.

I wasn't smart enough to stay away from the race yesterday that started around 2:00 and wrapped up around after 11:00. A big wreck took out more than a third of the field early on and they were immediately red flagged for weather. Once it finally restarted after dark, it was pretty uneventful until the leaders wrecked out half of the field that was left. Spare ass Michael McDowell found himself out front when the caution lights went on and ran ass backwards into the winners circle for his first career win. He probably won't finish a race the rest of the season.
