Moss is a quiter.

Post subject:

I like Walker, but he's hurt a lot and the terrible O-line is gonna be protecting an inexperinced QB. Moss may have been a quiter, but it seems like Oakland would benefit more from beefing up the O-line than adding an injury prone receiver.

I guess you didn't want the Cowboys to be kick ass.

oh dear

Quote:
• Oakland Raiders -- Where to begin? The Raiders gave defensive end-turned-tackle Tommy Kelly more than $18 million guaranteed despite the fact that the onetime undrafted collegiate free agent played just seven games last season and is coming off ACL surgery. They paid a steep price for receiver Javon Walker, who has had three knee surgeries and is said to be playing with a bone-on-bone situation in one of his knees. And they added ex-49ers offensive tackle Kwame Harris, a former first-round pick who couldn't even stay in the lineup for San Francisco's less-than-dominating offensive line last season.

Ex-Giants safety Gabril Wilson is a solid -- if unspectacular player -- but at $39 million, the Raiders had to over-pay to entice him to town. While it certainly made sense to re-sign running back Justin Fargas and franchise cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, the Raiders saw receiver Jerry Porter and quarterback Josh McCown walk away in free agency without getting anything in return. At this point, quarterback is again a concern, because no one knows if JaMarcus Russell is ready to take over the starting job. There are rumors that he's close to 300 pounds and not exactly prepared for his close-up.

How did I know you would be gloating about getting the most overrated cornerback in the game? He's decent, but he gets beat for 100 yard games regularly. He's great in his mind though and honestly he's probably a good #2, though Asomugha is by far the better corner. I will say that as a tandem, it's pretty damn good. But they were already strong at corner anyway. Why not fix the offensive line?

By the way, after 19 wins in the last 5 years, do the Raiders still have the best winning percentage all time in the NFL?

Peter King:

I think if the Raiders pay DeAngelo Hall in the range of $9 million a year, they will officially be Daniel Snyder West. Ask opponents if Hall is a premier corner. I did over the weekend, promising anonymity. Got this text from an offensive coach on an NFC South staff: "Avg w flash & big play ability. Don't know how good he wants to be. Classic Oakland. Does have ability tho.''

One defensive assistant told me: "He's above average, but he sees himself as elite. This leads to problems.''

I can't admit to watching a lot of Atlanta, but every time I do, I see Hall getting beat. I know corners, by nature, are gonna get beat at times, but I see it a lot with him. Much more than his reputation would indicate.
