As most of you know Butch was hired away from Cincinnati last year to take over for the fired Derek Dooley. In Butch's first year he managed a 5-7 record coaching Dooley's 3 star recruits. Tennessee just doesn't have the talent to compete in the SEC at the moment. Butch's first recruiting class was ranked 5th in the nation by Rivals. While this is great it is somewhat tempered by the fact that it only placed 3rd in the SEC behind Bama and LSU. At least we were first in the SEC East. Tennessee's starting middle linebacker was arrested this weekend for disorderly and resisting arrest after being found drunk at an off campus party. It will be interesting to see the precedent that Butch will be setting. As always your Unca Ich is full of hope for the coming season. Go Vols! |

Something about turning 50 has made me not care if athletes get into trouble any more. We don't pay college athletes to be good citizens or go to class. We pay them to play football. Make his citations go away and let him back on the field. |

As always your Unca Ich is full of high hopes for his mighty Vols at the beginning of the season. We open up against Bowling Green as a tune up game and then host the Sooners in Knoxville. Your Unca Ich will be in Neyland Stadium for that one! I'm predicting a Vol victory over the Sooners this year. Don't think we beat Bama, but am counting on beating the Gators. Truth is, barring injuries and bad luck, the Vols should win at least 9 this year. Tennessee 59 Bowling Green 30 The Vols gave up too many yards through the air. We have serious work to do in the defensive secondary. The upside is the offense was firing on both cylinders . They established a running game and kept them off balance with the pass. Ethan Wolf is our freshman tight-end that appears to be a Jason Witten starter kit. He had two TDs and made some devastating blocks. Our sophomore and freshman running backs combined for 267 yards. Next week: Oklahoma. Your Unca Ich will be in Knoxville for the game. Go Vols! |

Welp, The Vols finished as number 23 in the nation just ahead of Georgia and Florida! Ha Ha Ha! The best four loss team in the nation!
