If I still taught tech classes, I would work that gif into an assignment tomorrow. And Gam is right about what Bush did. None of this happens without it.

He didn't try to get away at all. If Odor had dropped his glove and hit him again with his left, Bautista would have been put to sleep.

Here's a story by a Toronto Sun writer who says that Bautista had it coming.

It pains to me to say it, but Gam was probably onto something with respect to Tolleson.

So I don't love Tolleson either, but I'd like to know what role gam would put him in. If he can't handle the 9th inning with no runners on and a 1-3 run lead, can he handle the 7th inning in a tie game, with 2 on and 1 out? The "save" is ruining baseball. It makes people think you have to put your best pitcher in save situations.

Why wouldn't you want a fresh stud to come in and finish the game? Though I also don't agree with taking someone out that has been doing exceptionally well, unless you're sure they'll fall apart by pitch 18 or something.

I still think Diekman would be a good fit as closer. I think Dyson can pitch multiple innings so while I think he'll be a good closer I'm not sure that's the best use of him. Hopefully JD can find a closer on the market or trade for someone.

As far as Tolleson, if he can't get anyone out then send him to RR for a while till he gets his stuff back.

Now all we can do is pray Holland gets his shit together and this thing rights itself.

I don't love Diekman as closer, because you need a situational lefty available at all times. Diekman is great though, no disagreements there. I think Dyson is the right choice if you're going for a traditional bullpen makeup (which I'm against obviously).

That's where your strategery goes beyond mine. I just look at D and see a guy consistently shutting down people and think he would be good in the anchor position. But even if they did that who's gonna step in for him in relief? Same issue with Dyson I guess. Are they putting Tolleson in relief? Seems like giving up runs isn't good no matter what inning it is. JD needs to fix this shit, Rich.

Going to get a 'closer' is a bad idea. Just ride the hot hand to one emerges, maybe it's Bush maybe someone else. I don't have a problem adding an extra arm at trade deadline but it shouldn't cost much more than a middle tier prospect and cash. Again, fuck the closer position. There are so many more important things for the Rangers to fix than that.

No one cares about the kicker in football either until you don't have one.

They keep them in a big mason jar in the clubhouse by the door leading out to the dugout, right next to the double bubble, Mike & Ike's and Elanor Rigby's face. The players just grab big handfuls on their way to the field.

Even the most severe homer in Rangers history (me) is sick of his act. But I am equally tired of Mitch.

Obviously the Banni Rooster lurks on this forum as Fielder is on the bench tonight! :txpatriot:

:babyarm: Gallo at 1st, a Choo/Rua platoon in the OF, and Chirinos as the primary catcher makes me cream supreme in my jeans.

I don't know how you keep both Moreland and Prince on the bench though, so the first part won't happen unless they could somehow work something for either. Plus, they get an extra year of control if they keep Gallo in the minors until June 23 or somesuch.

Fielder looked rusty at 1st last night and I'm not sure if that new swing is gonna help. I know it's a Facebook knee jerk, but can they not send him to Round Rock for a couple of weeks to help get his groove back? Just say he tweaked his neck or something and has to do a rehab assignment. Right now he is literally the African elephant in the room.

Once a player accrues a certain amount of big league time, he can't be sent down to the minors without his consent. Prince is well beyond that point. Kinsler is having a great year, though.

I'm trying to be nice. The ironically named player has no business being on defense.

Profar looked pretty good at first. He's got a ways to go but it sure looks like he can thrive there. I'm sure there's some obscure reason why I'm wrong though.

I guess I understand the need for a "situational lefty" but it seems like the Deik is just the 8th inning setup guy, no matter who's at bat. Seems like if needed he and Dyson could switch places, but it's working pretty well so far.

You're not wrong about Profar at 1B, but he's only there because the other three IF spots are taken, which I'm sure you know. I think long term something would have to shake out with one of them, but in the interim, Banny is trying to get the best 9 guys out there however he can and I completely support it.

Diekman has pitched the 8th the last two times out because the starter went 7 (both lefties, btw) and Diekman IS the best pitcher in the bullpenis, so they wanted to use him in a close game. He pitched the 7th the other day when Perez only went 6. I'd hate to have to get a huge out against a LH masher and you can't use your stud LHP, because you're holding him until the 9th. Of course, if we stopped using roles for bullpen guys, then this wouldn't be an issue. You could use him if you needed to get someone out in the 7th or hold him until the 9th if you needed to.
