Suck it, doubters.

A totally improbable season, and that makes it so much better. I'm sure somebody will say that we were playing the AL West this year and that is why they advanced. The same dumbfucks said that in 2010, too. How did that turn out.

Yes, they should lay an egg against Toronto, but this has been fun. If they hadn't broke through with the big inning today, I would have said the same thing: this season was fun.

As soon as the last out was recorded, I thought about Corby and Danny poking fun at BannyRooster28 and the Never Ever Quit thing at the beginning of the season. To his credit, Mike did not join in with that. And of course now they are all on board.

You could use some baseball. I could use a beer.

The game day thread for today's game was golden.

Game 2: Friday at 11:45
Game 3: Sunday at 7:10

Could have been worse, but fuck a bunch of 11:45.

Bob Costas is killing me. Derek Holland is not going game 3, Colby has not been announced for game 4, and Napoli wasn't on the 2010 team. Also, I don't think Odor's nickname is "stinky", though it would be funny if it was.

Costas can't be as bad as Berman/Sutcliffe on ESPN radio. I listened on Tune In yesterday and I was so beaten down that I spent a half hour moving a radio around my office to find a place where it would pick The Fan up with minimal static.

C'mere old man. :pualf:

Donaldson is a bitch. Several "fuck you"s then hides behind Bautista. Kela would have made very quick work of him. Great hitter though.

I would hate Odor if he played for another team, but I love that little fucker. I think he kept his spikes on the base. But even if not, not near enough visual evidence to overturn that. I also think the Blue Jays fans in the stadium would be surprised to know how fair the ump was. Inconsistent, but fair.

Ohlendorf still makes me nervous as fuck with that 1930s wind up.

I'm not the only one seeing this, right???

Crazy first two games. This smells like 2010 but there's no way they get that far.

And here's my take on replay: if we're still going to allow the player at second to be "in the neighborhood" on a double play then a hand or foot coming off the bag for a split second because of normal turbulence during a slide should also be allowed.

I am going to have to suffer through a whole day of bad football before sweet clean baseball happens? Crap.

Although I might need an entire day of rest after the raw dogging that Somey put on me in a previous post.

And on the subject of 2010, Gam, I went back a few days ago and read some of the 2010 season thread. We were all shoveling dirt on those sumbitches in April 2010, too. Sounds familiar, but I don't think we get that far. But this is fun.

So, Leonys is unhappy about being left off of the playoff roster and refused to go to Arizona to work out.

I agree with him on this one. He doesn't need any more practice on trying to pull every damn pitch thrown, usually rolling out to the second baseman. Screw him.

His bat is lacking but we sure could have used his arm in centerfield yesterday. DeShields had 2 throws to 3rd that weren't even close to making a play. If Martin is throwing that ball then those are outs.

You think so? DeShields bounced them AND they were off line. Martin threw ropes to home so often people stopped trying to score.

I'm not comparing their arms. Yes, it is quite the assumption to assume any OF is going to throw runners out taking bases. At best, you can assume they wouldn't have run.

Deshields has 6 hits in the series, by the way. Next most is 2.

Beltre's in the lineup. Hopefully he provides a shot in the arm to the offense.

I am in no way suggesting that Martin should be out there over DeShields. Just pointing out the difference in defense.

I wonder if Martin even has to make those throws yesterday, or if the runners just say "fuck it" and don't even try to advance.

For what it's worth, he is owning up to his fuckups. I really need to let this disappointment fade some before I make a judgment on the guy.

:babyarm: He's made a million plays over the last month. The timing of the two bad plays sucked. I like guys with contracts like that to be able to hit though.

Isn't hating Elvis a bit like chanting "Romo sucks" every time the Cowboys' season ends after he sets ANOTHER QB record?

I'm not gonna define Elvis' career on the 7th inning. Not after all the out of body plays he's had over the years. Just like Michael Young shouldn't be defined by game 6.

And the guy feels just awful:
"I've got a lot of emotions," Andrus said softly after letting out a defeated exhale. "Nothing good is going through my mind right now. We had an opportunity to win and I let everybody down. I should have made the plays. They were easy plays. I should make them 100 times out of 100. There is no excuse. This is the toughest point of my career."

I still like you, Elvis.

Elvis is nowhere near the player Romo is. The dude has been very average to below average for a couple of years now.

Whatevs. We were playing with house money. No one expected the Rangers to not be last in the division this year. Yu going down, Holland hurt, Prince coming off surgery, Harrison coming off surgery, Choo struggling, Colby's old ass, new manager... all of it. Everyone said in Spring Training that this would be a bad year and look what happened. I'll take it.
