Cito Gaston actually won 2 World Series and never won manager of the year.

Matt Williams won in 2014 then was fired the next year because everyone agreed he's a terrible manager. It's a meaningless award.

Bad example to refute cap's "point".

Don't they vote on this before the playoffs start anyway? If so, Warsh's two AL pennants wouldn't matter.

I started off making that point but decided it didn't matter. Cito's just another guy who had success but never got an award. There's only 6-7 managers with a realistic shot at either league's award each year. They choose one guy and it's usually the one whose team made the biggest improvement over the previous year.
