Not happening. Don't think my job would look too kindly on it.

Oh, and I don't want to.

Opening day and it already feels like church! Decimated pitching staff, missing catcher, missing 2nd baseman and the left side of the infield is already playing hurt. That being said It's opening day! :-)

Go Rangers!

With last night's win the Rangers definitely will not go 0-162. Suck it Kinsler!

The Angels still have a chance for 0-162. They've lost their first two, making me really hoppy cited.

Looking forward to 2015, cause this season is DUN. Also hoping JD doesn't use this as an excuse to get rid of Wash.

From todays' Newberg report.

“I’m a leader. And a leader is loyal to his team.”

— Bert Cooper (d. 7-20-69)

Not just leaders.

I could dump a whole bunch of numbers this morning, lots of shiny numbers coming out of a series convincingly won in Detroit in spite of reason, but I don’t want to.

I’m not thinking about numbers.

The players matter. They matter a lot.

But not long ago, someone I know who embodies leadership on a level that would elicit a Bert Cooper “Bravo” said to me that while team is bigger than individual, you can’t lose sight of the fact that it’s those players who help make the team that you’d run through a wall for.

Maybe Texas is on its 37th and 38th and 39th players — in May — and is relying on them while a handful of others you’d count on your first couple hands watch from the dugout. “Injuries only really devastate when they pile up,” writes FanGraphs columnist Jeff Sullivan in a Fox Sports piece, “but the top of the Rangers’ pile now is well out of view.”

Yeah, maybe so, but giving up isn’t part of a loyal sports fan’s playbook any more than a leader’s, and walking up to that wall and choosing a slump-shouldered U-turn isn’t, either.

Ultimately, it’s about team.

Don’t quit on this one.

On the off-chance that something really special ends up happening, that the last four days create some form of momentum or indicate some sort of life or have some amount of stamina or whatever you might believe in, it’s going to be a lot more special for you than for those who walked away.

Don’t quit on this team.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Hoob's take on this: what happened this week is fool's gold. And I hope I am wrong. But I still love you, Rangers.

I was shocked to see Tanner Scheppers brought in the 8th last night in relief. I was not shocked to see him immediately give up a home run because Mrs. Ich and I saw him start at the Roughriders game Saturday before last and he didn't make it out of the 1st inning!

I know the Rangers are hurting for pitchers, but Scheppers is a failed experiment!

Uh, do what? As a starter, yes, failed. I don't think you can ignore what he did out of the bullpen last year and call him failed based on a sample size of "1".

And looking at the box score from the Frisco game, I'm assuming they never intended on him to pitch more than 1 inning. He only gave up a hit and an unearned run. Hell, he got the win.

Wow, this team sucks.

Had a chance to go with friends tonight and have a big time. My boss fucked that up and I couldn't leave work in time. I was so pissed off at that guy and wanted to strangle him with my bare hands.

The Rangers are currently losing 17-6 and I am missing it. I am gonna buy my boss lunch tomorrow.

From Newberg:

The Frisco RoughRiders have announced an agreement to sell the franchise from Mandalay Baseball Properties to a partnership headed by none other than Chuck Greenberg (along with current Frisco GM Scott Sonju). Greenberg's startling departure from the Rangers in 2011 ultimately had no impact on what has been a mutually beneficial affiliation between Texas and high-A Myrtle Beach (that, I hope, will continue beyond 2014). Greenberg also owns the Cards-affiliated State College Spikes of the short-season NY-Penn League.

That's pretty funny. I think Leonys embellished at the end of that catch to make it seem like it was more of a rob than it was. Still a nice catch though.

I wonder if Chuck Morgan has fantasized about playing F-pants Danny's "This sucks this sucks this sucks" drop during games this year. I know he would never do it, but I wonder if he has thought about it.
