Going through a random box of cards...

Noticed a 1992 Chipper Jones - #5 - card made for the Fisher Nuts co. Beckett value - $6. I got two of them. woohoo

Also 2 Carlos Delgado's from the same set. Only $4 each.

I like the new search feature on Beckett's site.

You're going to pressure me into opening the rest of my 87 Topps.

Are the '87 Topps the ones with that wood style border? If so, I have that whole set. My friends used to say that set wasn't worth anything - and that was back when baseball cards had a market. They all had Fleer and Upper Deck and I had Topps and DonRuss. :(

There are three decent cards in the 87 Topps - Bonds rookie is listed at $10, McGwire is $2, Clamens and a few others are a couple dollars. the rest of the set...not that great.

Mine are in such shitty shape, so they're probably worth 1/3 those prices.

I'm currently going thru a 1990 Score set. Nothing great, but it's a complete set. I'll never understand how Kevin Maas cards can be worth so much more than your average spare's card.

And Beckett's new site sucks ass. Hey guys, maybe test the site before you put it out there next time.

The '87 set was the second set I ever completed, with the '86 being the first. I hated those wood borders because when the corners of the card started to not be a corner anymore, it made the cards look like ass. The '87 set does have a place in my collection, but it's not a set I'm 100% fond of.

Ah yes, Kevin Maas. I remember when his cards were the rage, along with Matt Nokes and B.J. Surhoff. I value my 1978 Topps Len Barker higher than any Kevin Maas card, though.

So you're telling me that these 35 Mike Loynds I bought from some kid for $100 aren't worth anything? :banghead:

I think I have that set too. The only reason I got it was for the Bo Jackson with the shoulder pads and baseball bat card. I think I spent 30 dollars at Six Flags buying 1990 Score cards just to get that card.

Sorry to interject here but is $10 really anything to get excited about? I'm not trying to be an ass, I just don't get how anyone can get excited because their card is up to $2. And that doesn't mean that's what you'll get for it right? That's cool you guys get into that stuff, I just never got it. Give me torn our Penthouse pictures any day of the week.

I don't see anyone really excited about it. I pulled all my cards down from my mom's attic, because I was going to try to sell them for whatever I could get for them. I bet if it was Star Wars action figures we were talking about, you would be all over it.

By the way, next time I go to my mom's, I'll get all my Star Wars toys and you and fruit can come over and play with them.

It's only exciting when you consider you can get $10 for a flimsy piece of cardboard with a dude's picture on it.

i hadn't pulled out my cards in probably 15 years (since i would sell them for beer money)
i was putting something in the attic and found the boxes. i had so much fun going through them with Spam Jr. (8).
the excitement in his eyes as he looked up all the cards and saw values. good times!!

That sounds like a great father/son moment, but according to Terd, you should be showing him porn instead.

I cracked open a couple 1985 wax packs and scored. 2 Clemens rookies and a Puckett rookie. I didn't hit the trifecta with a McGwire, but still cool.

Fair I guess. Low end is $15 and high end is $40. I would say it's somewhere in the middle. Just caught me off guard seeing it. Friggin cool.

And also have a Micky Rivers RC.
