The Athletic is opening shop. I guess it's a pay-to-read outfit. Newberg has joined it. Good for him, hope he is successful.

However, after two straight days of people giving him reacharounds online, it occurred to me that he wasn't ever going to contribute anything to Twitter again and I unfollowed him. It got old really fast.

I was watching that game. That guy just got sent in to pinch run for Giancarlo Stanton and he got picked off after the first pitch. Not a good first impression, though that was a wicked throw by the catcher.

It didn't look to me like anyone was reaching over, but I don't know how you'd overturn it either. The best angle was blocked by security personnel.

I do think Betts would have caught it, but that's an assumption considering he was in the air, arm stretched. He definitely had his glove closed by Reagan-Bush-84 guy.

Consider where Betts hit the wall as he came back down. He hit about halfway down so he wasn't right at the wall when he jumped. The fan overreach may have been slight but I think it's there. As with everything else in the world, this can all be explained with science. It just requires further analysis.

And I agree with somey that he probably would have caught it. He had a better chance at it than the guy in the white shirt who can't even keep his eye on the ball.

I found out about it a month or so ago when he posted a video breaking down Alex Cora's ejection in the game against the Rangers. Good stuff. I would probably appreciate his work on Twitter even more if I were a big Yankees fan. His live video response to the Grienke trade was pretty funny.

There were few things as satisfying as seeing Dave Roberts shit the bed the other night and the Dodgers get their ass hung up on. If the same thing happens to the Cards, life will be good. The NLCS is purely a sweepstakes to see who gets destroyed by the Yankees or Astros.

My satisfaction in seeing the Cards get swept comes from a petty and immature place in my soul, but I don't give a shit. The Nationals aren't perfect and they may not do well against either AL team, but they're fun to watch.

Rain out tonight helps both teams with their starting pitchers. A possible 4 games in 4 days could be hell on the Yankees bullpen.
