I don't endorse loafing, but it seems the chances are just as high you pull a hamstring running hard vs the outfielder dropping a fly ball. Unless you hit it to Napoli.

Apparently some fans have pledge a few thousand dollars to charity if they'll drop Sir Chokesalot

:babyarm: The Hall of Fame is full of guys who didn't always run out easy grounders and pop-ups. Most of the time, the player is running hard enough to get there if an error is committed.

Plus, Harper has like a 10+ WAR this season. It's not his fault these games are meaningless to the Nats.

Rangers could use that guy in left field.

Do you consider the wild card game as making the playoffs or even the postseason?

I do. I don't like it, but I consider the top 5 in each league in the playoffs. No play-in games though.

It's playoffs but it kinda sucks. I have no expectations that the Yanks well beat the Astros in the AL Wild Card game presented by Budweiser, but at least they earned a shot this year. It really sucks for the Cubs and Pirates. Both could go far but one will get quickly bounced.

One thing I'm against is the champagne shower after winning the play-in game. I'm also against it after winning the division series. You can get one after earning a playoff spot, winning a pennant, and winning the World Series. I'd be willing to throw out the first two since the other major sports don't seem to do it unless a championship is won, but I'm not entirely sure on that one.

Winning the play-in game is technically earning the playoff spot though.

Yeah, but they've already had their champagne jizz fights when they clinch the play-in game presented by Budweiser. Then they win another game and get another. Not right.

ok, then I guess that's where we disagree. I don't think you should celebrate when you clinch a spot in the play-in game presented by Budweiser.

Also, gotta root for Astros and Pirates to advance. Otherwise, the Rangers are gonna get the shittiest start times.

I don't really think they should either, but it makes sense that they do. It's a long season and playing well enough for a shot when 20 teams are going home is worth blowing off some steam. If the play-in game presented by Budweiser means you earn the wild card, then any celebrating should be held off til you've won the game and you now get a 5 game set against someone. It would also make sense that no one celebrates til the championship is secured. This should be Rob Manfred's #1 priority. I think we're on the same page here, somey. I think. I'm not sure what my point is, to be honest.

Of course, each of these 10 teams got those #PostseasonIsOurs T-shirts, so MLB just encourages this shit.

I didn't stay up for the whole game. I saw the first hit and thought "welp, it's not gonna get any better than this!". I checked out around 9:15 or so. I dunno how far in the game it was. It was before the lights went out, I think.

I made it thru 11 innings but got sleepy. I don't have a rooting interest this year (I don't hate the Mets), but I think I'd like to see the Royals win because their door is closing. The Mets could easily get back there the next few years if those pitchers stay healthy.

That may have been the best short-series WS I've seen. The Royals were a lot of fun to watch. Eric Hosmer has balls the size of church bells. I normally don't care either way about the Mets, but I started to root against them. It was fun watching them kick the ball around the field. Matt Harvey is a douche.

There is a thread on Angelswin about whether or not they pick up David Murphy's $7 million option for next year. He hit .283 with a .739 OPS for the season. I like the guy, but no way would I do that.

There is another thread about Mike Maddux being available. It just reminds me that even though a lot of dumbasses have left message boards for Facebook and Twitter, there are plenty of morons still a-postin'.

But not here. All of you are smart.

ESPN's Keith Law has posted a ranking of farm systems. He has the Angels farm system at dead last, and says it is the worst he has ever seen. I can't tell you how happy this makes me.

This is part of the fucking ESPN insider thing that requires a subscription, so I can't post a link.

This is Hoob, and I hate the Angels. And ESPN.

Matt Harrison unlikely to pitch for the Phillies this season. Or maybe ever again.

Only $85 for a single team package. I'm still buying the $110 package cuz I like to look in on games when there's a no-no going on or something. I'll also pay the extra $10 to avoid blackouts so I don't have to listen to Tag when the Yankees play the Rangers.

I really miss living up there. When my boys were younger, I would allow them all to miss school so I could take them all to the home opener.

/sniff

Good times.....

After what happened to Doc Holliday I don't see how anyone could root for TB.

Many fans have a team that they hate. I have mine, and they got swept today.

Pedro Moura ‏@pedromoura 3m3 minutes ago

The Twins walked off on the Angels, 3-2 in 12 innings. The Angels were swept by a team that had not won until Friday. They are 5-7.
