Damn, they got Kuroda too.

Never say the M's aren't smart. They could've had Montero for a half year of Cliff Lee. Instead they got him for 5 controlled years of a young stud pitcher.

On one hand, I hate the Yankees. On the other hand, it's going to be a 50/50 proposition to win the AL West for a long time.

It's probably a good move for the M's as I hear they've got some great young pitchers in their system but no offense. Maybe now they can get Prince to agree to sign.

What if we get Yu and Prince? That would be Yankee like. What if we don't? That would be Jerry like.

I came here to get on you for KIOT, but that would have been a big ass mistake.

He's okay in Japan, I guess.

Junior had some good points about fat players in the MLB and how they peak at 23 and fall off the face of the earth at 30.

Cecil Fielder - 6' 3", 250 (though I question that 250)
Prince Fielder - 5' 11", 270

Prince is way fatter than his dad. But how does a Vegan who plays sports for a living weigh 270 at 5' 11"?

Wikipedia even lists him at 285.

Wikipedia's back! :twirl:

:babyarm: I think everyone knows what an albatross a long contract would be for him and that's why he's still out there. Everyone wants him the next 4 years, but it's the last 3 that scare them.

I guess it would be worth those last three years if they got a couple more shots at a title, though I've heard rumors that teams are wanting mutual opt outs after the third year, which would be ideal for the team. Truth be told, Washington looks pretty good on paper. If they're offering 7 and the money's right ... there are a lot worse places to play than DC.

:twirl:

That may work out well for a couple of seasons, but NINE? Thank goodness JD didn't fall for this. Thank goodness we don't have Tom Hicks to bend over and take it from Boras any more.

:babyarm: so glad the Rangers didn't get suckered into a deal like that. There's no way fat boy Prince will earn all of that contract.

I've heard more than one pundit say his glove isn't that great. If that's truly the case, is his bat really worth $24 mil a year? That seems like an awful lot, even for dumbass baseball owners. Then again he had Boras. That dude must have pictures of every single owner.

Makes little sense for Detroit with Cabrera and Martinez making so much money and are both pretty much 1B/DH at this point. I read that Cabrera was moving to 3B. Wow.

I didn't even think about the Cabrera issue.

I had to listen to some talker this morning discuss how this might put Detroit over the hump in the playoffs. Not so fast.

It might, but it won't. Prince and Cabrera will need designated runners in a couple years.

I read a funny post on Twitter yesterday and I can't remember who it was from: "What will Fielder and Cabrera combine to reach first: 600 home runs or 600 pounds?"

10 worst transactions of the winter

Why yes, the Rangers were in at number 8. I'd switch numbers 1 and 2.
