Pujols to LAA. Great.

Post subject:  Re: Offseason Discussion Thread

Interesting note on that: Since Fla gave up their first to sign Reyes and LAA gave up their first to sign Pujols, if one of those teams signs CJ, Texas only gets their 2nd rounder.

Wilson to the Angels. 5/75

Post subject:  Re: Offseason Discussion Thread

If you just look at averages per year and assume that what's being reported about CJ is true, the Angels would have $75 million/year tied up in Weaver, Wilson, Wells, and Pujols.

I'd say those two signings cancel each other out.

The Sox and John Danks agree on a 5 year extension. His has a low ERA. You can put it on the board.

Sox should give Rios and Dunn. an unconditional release and eat their salaries and while there at it get rid of
Williams at the same time. Danks is the worst starter on the team, but then again what do I know I haven't won one world series.

Looks like the A's are trading Gonzalez to the Nats.

http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=A ... eticstrade

Good for him. He's going from pitching in front of 2,000 fans to pitching in front of 2,000 in a new stadium.

The Nats will have a pretty awesome pitching staff. They may contend before long.

And so the Cards sign Beltran to a 2-year deal. They will rue the day.

Toronto signs Darren Oliver.

There is talk about how the Rangers don't have left-handed relievers and this is true. You know what? He's 41. Let him go. JD did the right thing.

He didn't show anything last year that made you think he was going to be shutting anyone down on a regular basis.

I like that he's still playing. He's one of the few remaining players who is older than me.

Post subject:  Re: Offseason Discussion Thread

Maybe he got tired of the strain of pitching in the playoffs. He won't have that problem in 2012.

Newberg is Tweeting that the Red Sox are bringing Vicente Queerdilla for a medical check.

Consider how this might affect the rivalry.

Surprised Fielder, Oswalt and Kuroda are all out there. Rumors are that Fielder has Texas high on his list, but the Rangers wouldn't sign him if they sign Yu. Oswalt and Kuroda are very good #3s, IMO and can be #2s.

Also, Milwaukee offered Fielder a 1 year deal, which may not be the worst thing for him, considering it seems most teams are tapped out right now. Not sure who the big FAs are next year.

Next year a bunch of strong pitchers will be available like Cain, Greinke, and Hamels. Hitters won't be as good.

The FA Cup is huge in England. It's a cool knockout tournament.

The idea of he and Bobby V. sharing dugout/clubhouse space is much more intriguing than any rivalry potential.
