It's time to get gay and talk uniforms. I love the Royals look. And that it has basically remained the same from the start. The clean, bright white with the basic blue and simplicity of the cap logo is just about perfect. I feel the same way about the Rangers pre-94 look, which I still love. I know both are essentially knock-offs of the Dodgers' motif but the the blue and white is so crisp (I love the ivory my Giants go with, but that absolute-white is great). It's such a minor thing but the Royals blue is a sharper blue than Dodger blue.

I have never understood the love of the red Rangers look. Both the Rangers and the Angels seemed to steal the Red Sox barbed-letter look and it has never clicked with me. Also, I do wish the Royals, Rangers, and/or the Twins would rock the baby blue uniforms every once in a while.

I know there are some contractual issues about the whole California/Anaheim/Los Angeles Angels thing, but I do love their classic halo-A logo, yet their love of red over blue makes them more generic to me. The dark blue they sported as the California Angels wasn't great, but it was better than what they're going with now. I love that the Orioles have stuck with the cartoonish bird for so long. Although I am pretty old fashioned in that I don't like it when teams have radically different cap logos from game to game. The Orioles go from the italic O to the bird. Also I have always hated that at a glance, it's hard to tell which team is on my TV when blowing by ESPN and I see orange and black.

The Cardinals used to sport the baby blue, too, didn't they? Nothing wrong with their look, but it doesn't stand out to me. I don't know what it is about red that just seems so meh to me.

I'm going to have to think about how to rank the current uniforms in baseball. Maybe I'll start a baseball fashion podcast. Project Bullpen. Then I'll have gay sex.

So in the biggest and highest pressure game of the year for CJ Wilson, he folds up like a cheap suit and only goes 2/3 of an inning? He collapses when his team needs him the most? What a shocker!!!

Some observations:

1. The Giants don't hit much, but they get it done.
2. Ian Desmond didn't swing in the 9th and got ripped off.
3. Bryce Harper is a fuckin asshole.

One of the tech innovations that I love is the computer analysis of balls and strikes. Today I stumbled across a story that rates umpires by accuracy.

I'm not at all surprised that Brian O'Nora is least accurate among umps who called a full season. Dumbass Cowboy Joe West is in the bottom 12. So is Angel Hernandez, who is considered horrible by most who follow the game.

I always see a lot of people complaining online about C.B. Bucknor. Actually, he is among the most accurate behind the plate.

Who's the ump behind the plate tonight? Just turned it on and he's terrible. The insta-track thing is proving his terribleness.

Also I hate any team that uses the Seven Nation Army chant.

Tim Timmons is behind the plate. He is in the lower 1/4 of all umps.

Yes, that chant beats the everlasting fuck out of me.

If any of you have watched any of the playoff games on Fox Sports 1 have you noticed hearing the Windows notification sound from time to time?

No. I've watched different games on different TVs and hear it. No computers in the rooms.

The Royals winning the pennant is pretty incredible. Great for baseball and great for cap, who's been a fan since game 3.

I hope I'm wrong, but I bet they get steamrolled by whatever NL team makes it. Just a hunch.

well, now that you mention it. I've been going to Royal games for years when I visited grandma. My kids went this summer. It's a family thang.

They match up well against the Giants. The Giants like to wait for the other team to make a mistake. The Royals don't make mistakes.

But to be honest, I've been completely wrong with my predictions this year, so I'm not making any more.

Listening to Joe Buck call this Cards vs. Giants game while he is sporting a little Joe Buck Cardinal boner is awkward.

I bet he has a wet spot in his pants.

I'll have to give Buck credit. He sounded excited when the Giants's Michael Morse parked one over the fence in left field and tied the game.

I used to shit all over the TBS broadcast, but Ernie Johnson has grown on me this year. He was damn good in the ALCS. I hate getting stuck with Buck every WS. At least McCarver is gone.

So for the record, I don't like that two teams with less than 90 wins are in the World Series. One of the big things I've always loved about baseball was the exclusiveness of its playoffs. You generally have be able to maintain winning throughout the whole season. It was difficult to sneak in. It may benefit me here but I still don't agree with it.

Newberg had this delicious paragraph today:

Just because: Jeff Passan (Yahoo! Sports) tweeted this the day before the Angels were ousted from the playoffs by the Royals: “Albert Pujols has seven years, $189 million left on his deal. Josh Hamilton has three years, $83 million. Pujols is in constant pain. Hamilton is a ghost.”

So the ballpark with the rigged radar gun is also home to the fastest pitcher? Go figure.

I think the Royals are that juggernaut that are going all the way. They're not the best team in baseball, but they're hot at the right time. Good for them. Good for baseball.
