The rest of this story unfolded recently. The story began on a Jenny Jones episode in 1995. If you remember one of Jenny's recurring bits was a segment in her show in which she would surprise a guest by bringing out their secret admirer.
One of those guests was 24 year old Jonathan Schmitz. He had probably hoped for a hot chick from high school to walk out and surprise him. Instead, his reveal was Scott Amedure, 32, a friend of Schmitz.
Schmitz, who said he wasn’t gay, fatally shot Amedure in Lake Orion three days after the taping. He then turned himself in to police, saying he killed Amedure because he was embarrassed on national television. He was sentenced to 25 to 50 years for second-degree murder.
Schmitz, now 47, was granted parole after a March hearing and is scheduled to be released. The episode never aired but clips were shown on news shows and in court.
