Apparently we had a 3.5 centered around Loop 12 and 183 again. The last 4 or 5 have come from that area. When it happened I thought at first a forklift had run into the wall, and then thought it had to be something else because of the way the floor was shaking. Weird, man. |

I don't understand this. I live in fracking central and never feel these things. There is a gas well about a quarter mile from here. I guess geology is hard. |

40 years ago today or yesterday Mt St Helens erupted. This was a really big story for 9 year old tg. Wow. What an explosion. I had a grandmother that gave me a little touristy jar thing of alleged ash from the explosion. I cherished it. I wonder whatever happened to that gift. After reading the linked article I vaguely remember the crotchety 83 yr old fart named Harry Truman who refused to evacuate. He died. This gif was created from 6 photos taken by an onsite photographer. When the photographer saw the wall of ash approaching he zipped up his camera and laid on top of it to protect the film. He died too.

I was 9 years old too when that happened. My mom told me about when I woke up that morning and it freaked me out because back then volcanoes freaked me out. Not anymore. I'm better now. |
