Today I learned "Total Eclipse of the Heart" is seven minutes long. There's a whole other verse or two that was never played on MTV or the radio. Also I've always thought it sounded like a song Meat Loaf would have sung and according to the wiki he almost did.

That song was a big player in this past week's episode of Up all Night, starring Will Arnett, Christina Applegate, and Maya Rudolph. The show pretty much sucks.

That song was written by Jim Steinman who also wrote all the songs for Meat Loaf's Bat Out of Hell albums. Yeah, he pretty much sucks.

On the ride to work I heard "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" or whatever it's called. I can't beleive people actually liked that crap. 8 minutes of pure ear hell. Lyrics are 5th grade level writing. Remembering a sweaty Meat Loaf from 80's Nite Flight didn't help.

TIL Chile's flag was actually designed a good 20 years before Texas'

For whatever reason I always assumed they based their flag on ours. There's nothing on record that says Texas modeled their flag after Chile, but they are so close it would be hard to argue against it.

TIL that Reed Hastings tried to sell Netflix to blockbuster in 1999 for 50 million. Blockbuster declined and instead signed a 20 year exclusive video-on-demand deal with Enron. Today, Netflix is worth 20 billion.

Blockbuster may be the dumbest company in the history of ever.

We're Getting Old, Jim: My kids have never rented a movie at Blockbuster, or any other video store. They knew discs in the mail from Netflix for a short time, but now they know nothing but streaming.

Could have used a closer Blockbuster on Friday. My oldest wanted to watch Star Wars ("the one with Princess Leia and Dark Vader") or Batman or Iron Man. I don't own them and really didn't want to buy them, but didn't want to drive 45 minutes round trip to the nearest Blockbuster. I popped in Episode III (yes, I had the PT stashed away in a closet) and she bailed after 10 minutes.

I still get discs in the mail from Netflix. Have the streaming options gotten better?

We dropped the discs long ago because we never found time to watch them. Streaming options are a little better, but if you subscribe to any of the movie channels on your cable/satellite provider, you already have access to the good stuff. It's worth the $8/month to us for when we want to watch a movie (maybe once a month) or binge on a TV show. Tit Jr still uses it daily to watch those stupid-ass Disney shows.

After doing some minimal research, I think I'm going to have to stick with the discs. Just not enough movies available for streaming. My oldest kid would rather read than watch TV. My youngest would rather play with his penis.

I read an article that Taco Bell had to hire an additional 15,000 workers in the past year due to the unprecedented success of the Doritos Locos Tacos. These are the tacos that feature Doritos shells in Cool Ranch, Nacho Cheese, or Fiery flavors. Sales for these bad boys topped $1 billion dollars last month. Fyi, these tacos cost $1.39 for regular tacos, $1.69 for the supreme. Do the math. That's like, a lot of tacos. If you had a dollar for every one of those tacos sold, you'd be rich.

Please note, I've never had a doritos locos taco. Lately, when the gouchos have tacos, we've been using these packaged lentils from Trader Joes as hamburger meat in lieu of hamburger meat. You season and cook the lentils the same as hamburger meat. It tastes just like hamburger meat except different. Trust me, they are fucking delicious. They also pack tons of fiber. An added bonus is the Captain will wake you up the next morning and that 1st bm is one of those eye popping mountains of poo that rise above the toilet water. It is something to marvel at before the wipe and that's just one man's poop after a taco meal. Can you even fathom the scope of the pile of poo if all of the bms of the billion dollars worth of Locos Tacos were piled up in a one big heap? Wow.

I have never had a Doritos Locos Taco either, but I have had Doritos. I like them okay, but they're not my favorite chip. My preference is a standard bag of tortilla chips and a bowl of salsa. I don't much care for Ruffles. Those kettle chips of varying flavors are probably the best non-Mexican chip. They have a satisfying crunch.

The Sara Lee slogan is actually "Everybody doesn't like something, but nobody doesn't like Sara Lee," and not "Nobody does it like Sara Lee."

Bill knew what he wanted to do from an early age. The guy was doing comedy when he was like 13-14. He was wise beyond his years, sent to us to help us fine-tune our bullshit detectors.

I only wish that Jay Leno's final show would've included a cameo from Patrick Duffy and Joey Lawrence and concluded with Jay blowing his brains out like Bill predicted he would.
