My work bought us RTIC tankards engraved with our names on them. I had mine stamped with "Hoobeegoobee" on the side. Lots of funny looks.

My daughter talked me into letting her see Deadpool. I felt like such a bad dad, I kept thinking that it was as bad as it was going to get, and it wasn't. She loved it.

A dude at a table I was sitting at (for a team barbecue) started the conversation off with "Have you ever worked on a set?"
"When I worked as an actor....er, extra, they'd have great food like this there"

Uh. ok.

I received an email from someone on some random infrastructure team in Disney corporate related to three servers I use. They need patching for a specific issue. (These are servers that are not in production, just ones I use for ad hoc tasks, etc.)
"OK, I can handle that and let you know when I'm done. It should take 15 minutes."

"No, that's part of OS, and this external team is contracted to handle that. Also, it's part of change management. We need a window of time that we can do this with the servers."

"O-k, anytime is fine."

7 hours later, 6 people, and 15 emails , including 4 emails asking three people to approve the change request, as the task has been scheduled and OMFG we need approval before they perform the task.

Ever since we got bought out by Big McLargeHuge Inc., we got the same kinda shit. Used to take about 3 days to get a product release finalized. Now it takes a month and a half.

That sounds about right.
My application needs to be migrated to Windows Server 2008.
This project has been going on for a year, now.
My application is a pretty straightforward web app, nothing special.

Took my daughter to the Coldplay concert this Saturday at the death star. Observations and thoughts...

* I live 50 miles from it, I spent in total 5.5 hours in the car getting there and back.
* $50 is a crazy amount to pay to park a normal sized car anywhere, let alone Arlington.
* $39 for a shit philly cheesesteak and a hot dog with 2 drinks is absolutely obscene. You don't even get fries with that.
* the acoustics in that place are shit.
* I got fairly good seats and I was still a mile away. I looked back at the people at the top, there is no way they could see anything other than a speck on stage.
* the concert was good. fuck off music snobs.
* I hate paying all that money knowing Jerry is getting some of it. I am glad Romo is injured. Fuck Jerry.
* I cannot imagine a scenario where I will be enticed back to going to that absolute hellhole.
* I liked it when the wristband thingy turned yellow when the song came on. That was pretty cool.

:babyarm: Mrs. bigboy and I went as well.

We left the house at 6:00, stopped and ate at Le Madeliene, used shuttle parking and walked in at 8:20. Missed a lot of traffic, ate dinner for less than $20, and didn't suffer through the opening acts. We parked free at J. Gilligan's and used their $9 round trip shuttle that drops off across the street from the stadium. I begrudgingly spent $14 on a beer and a bottle of water, but that was all of the money Jerry got out me beyond our tickets.

Jerry was there, by the way. One of my wife's Facebook friends got a picture of him outside of his suite. The acoustics do suck, but they're better the lower you sit. We were on the 300 level and the sound was decent.

And, yeah, fuck the music snobs. They put on a good show. I saw them 4 years ago and this show had some slow parts (mostly the newer, unreleased songs) compared to that one, but it was still a good.

To paraphrase Oscar from The Office, liking Coldplay is probably the gayest thing I do. Other than having sex with men.

I defied visible poison oak in flower beds and weeded over the weekend thinking I was immune to that stuff. Boy was I wrong. I gots the poison oak/ivy rash all up over my shapely legs. Itches like a mug.
