Post subject:  Goodbye, Facebook

What in the world was I thinking when I joined that thing? Today I had to block 3 new games, got friend requests from 2 people that I can't stand. Not only that, none of the hot girls I knew when I was young are on it.

The last straw is all of the controversy and uncertainty over privacy settings. Screw that. I began the 14 day countdown today to getting rid of it. What was I thinking.

And no, I'm not going to come back in 6 months as Jim Jack like I did this joint.

Hoob.

nothin wrong with Facebook as long you block all the stupid apps, stay on top of you privacy settings. I's a good way to keep in touch with people. I have about 30 of my Marine Corps/Navy Corpsman/Army brothers and a few from here and BaD. Facebook is not the problem, it's the user that's the problem. You have full control of your newsfeed as far getting app messages and invites.

Three weeks since I pulled the plug and I don't regret it. I'm sure some folks think I must have un-friended them. I don't care.

Ummm, about that.

At the behest of a former girlfriend I rejoined. What did she do shortly after that? SHE cancelled her FB account. She just had to dump me one more time, I guess. Maybe I shouldn't have sent her that Bubby video.

Last week I got numerous requests from various former students from my last school. Most of them are 25-30 years old. Three days later I had un-friended all but a couple of them. They were either wanting to talk about politics or were just out and out dumbasses. Or both. Today I unfriended a guy who wanted to discuss evolution.

There's only room for one dumbass on my FB page, and that's me.

What a dummy I am for getting back into this.

A family member has made a group about my hometown and she added me to it. So now I'm being subjected to stupid stories about when we put the superintendent's chickens in the auditorium, going egging, and other stupid stuff. Having told and re-told those stories numerous times over the years, I'm sick of them. When I log on, I get a page full of "remember when we went to the cemetery and old man Rogers was out there with a shotgun" stupid stuff.

I took myself out of that group but because they are my "friends," I'm still getting the same stupid crap.

As a result, I unfriended nearly everybody from my hometown this evening including my sister.

But there is good news. My old girlfriend is back and had a legit reason for going away. I'm not going to unfriend her. Ever.

All of the phone numbers are on Facebook. Go to the top right of the screen, click on ACCOUNT, click on EDIT FRIENDS, left side of screen and click CONTACTS. You will see all phone numbers (FB friends or not) are published that you have stored in your mobile phone. TO REMOVE, go to Right column, click on "this page.

Everyone spam cap

The only numbers listed are from friends on facebook. Nothing from my phone. The numbers are made public by the friends, not me.

I don't know if other phones do this, but my Pre imports this info to my phone (synergy). When Wally changed his number it was automatically updated on my phone. That would have come in handy 7 years ago when he changed phone numbers more than I changed underwear.

I guess since politics season is nigh, my friends list will get whittled down.

I hate talking politics no matter which side you are on. It's an odd way to be because I always vote and keep up with politics.

Unfriended a guy today who is intent on hating on Rick Perry. I really hate Rick Perry. But I don't want to read about you hating him. This guy was my friend for all of a month.

Bye bye.
