Don Larsen died today, was 90.

I know this gets said about a lot of people, but I'll say it here. I had no idea that he was still alive. Well, I guess he's not now.

Craig announced this morning that Hugh Downs was dead, but that's not true. He's 98, and you just know at midnight on NYE he stayed up to say:

John Andretti died today after a long battle with colon cancer at the age of 56. He was my favorite of the racing family, but he was Mario's nephew and not one of the sons. He raced in Indy cars, NASCAR, top fuel dragsters, IMSA sportscars, and trucks. He didn't win often, but I loved it when he did.

He also did the Indy/NASCAR double, racing in the 500 in the afternoon, then the World 600 in Charlotte that night. He said at the end of the day, he had to pee really bad.

I am Hoob, and I remember dumb stuff.

I am the same age as Joe Diffie. Uh oh.

When I sang "John Deere Green" to Mrs. Hoob, she seriously thought I was making the lyrics up. The whole "Billy Bob loves Charlene" thing was just too much for her. We had been married a few years when the song came out.

Some time later she heard the song herself and realized that it was actually a song.
