I'm finally ditching Time Warner. I just can't take the connection interruptions during COD. Not only that, I get pixelation all the time when watching TV.

I had lunch with a customer the other day and he went from Dish to UVerse and said the picture doesn't look as good. After hearing that I don't want UVerse and I have no desire for a dish so that leaves FIOS. I know Tit has it but does anyone else? Are there any secret drawbacks I should know about? How often do you have to reset your STB or modem? Is the picture better than what you had before?

I like the prospect of whole house DVR. My house is completely wired for RG6 so I'm good to go on that front.

Have you tried a new modem? I was having problems with TWC a couple of years back. I replaced the modem and haven't had a problem since.

I rarely have STB problems with FIOS, but I have had them. I got one upstairs that needs a reboot every couple months, but that's it. Every couple years, shit slows down and they send me a new modem which fixes everything. Technical problems have been minimal in my experience.

It's not the modem. They run tests and see that the signal to my modem isn't within the proper thresholds. The fact that my TV pixelates shows the signal to STB isn't strong enough either. Funny thing is I have this "booster" thing in my attic that is supposed to keep the signal high. I'm going to pull the trigger today and get FIOS. They better have DIY network.

I'm seriously contemplating getting rid of satellite/cable altogether. The only thing I think I'd miss is mavs rangers and a third to half are on 21 anyways. I guess I'd miss some football but I could go somewhere or stream it if I had too.

If not for Mrs. Hoob it would be gone already. About all I watch is the Rangers.

I figure for one month of satellite I could almost buy an HD antenna and a cheap dvr to record shit.

:babyarm: If it wasn't for sports I would not have cable. Well, that and gammita is addicted to the Disney Channel. In fact, she would probably cut me in my sleep if I took that away.

Personally I like shows on Discovery and AMC but I could probably get my fix through Netflix and Hulu Plus and be just fine.

:babyarm: so many wasted channels. And if you add a channel, you have to add like 10 additional to go with it and pay for them all. A la carte cable/satellite would be awesome.

i think there are some politicians trying to allow a la carte channels, but cable/satellite is fighting it.

They would lose billions if a la carte gets approved. On the bright side a lot of shit channels would die off.

Hello gents. I'm back! 25Mbps up and down. NFL, NBA, NHL (yes!), and MLB, and Longhorn networks. I have every ESPN channel you can think of. I even have BET. Suck it.

Is there a secret handshake I need to know now? Is there back room with cushy leather chairs where we drink cognac? Cue Vivaldi.

Whoever your FIOS installer is, and wherever his appointments may take him today, he has already put you and yesterday's disappointment behind him. Plumes of exhaust exit the tailpipe of his idling cargo van as the engine runs and the heater works furiously to warm the cabin. He takes the final drag of his cig before climbing aboard, making room for his coffee, and setting his GPS to the work order in Rowlett. He loads his tools. He also loads hope. The same hope he loads everday. The hope that vanishes more often than not like yesterday, but what if today is different? What if the horny housewife is the one that is waiting today to greet him in slinky lingerie? What if? He massages his cock a bit till the light turns green and makes his way to the job. Such is life for the install man.

Since the last installer to visit my house was a bull dyke, the mental imagery I'm getting here is a little bit troubling.
