Ah. I didn't understand a damn word he said so I must have missed it :D I didn't see the Fighter but I'm sure she did a fine job. I was hoping the kid from True Grit was going to win, she did an awesome job.

Seeing him reduced to acting like a cutesy old clown was hard to watch. Cantankerous and bitter is the way a stroked out 90 something should be.

I'm startin to think True Grit is gonna get shut out  2 awards left and I think it should get em both. Of course, it's the only movie I've seen that's been nominated, but still...

Haven't seen The King's Speech, but from what I hear, it ranks up there with Driving Miss Daisy and A Beautiful Mind. Of course, I'll be the final judge of that when the time comes.

What does this mean?

It means it's a middle of the road questionable pick that everyone will shake their heads at in a few years. I'm going by what the internet tells me, that's all.

That's what I thought it meant, but I thought a Beautiful Mind was a pretty good choice. Blackhawk Down and Mulholland Drive were better, but I didn't think it was a travesty or anything.

I haven't seen The King's Speech but I found this interesting-

http://screencrave.com/2011-03-01/why-t ... rrelevant/

"Sure, The King’s Speech is good, but it’s the art cinema equivalent of a hamburger. It pushes zero boundaries, and doesn’t really demand much of its audience. It’s got no deeper insights. A year from now, it’ll be 'Oh, yeah, that movie. It was good. I liked it.' It’s just another period piece aimed squarely at your mom, the very definition of Oscar bait... It’s kind of offensive that a movie like The King’s Speech won in a year that saw movies like Black Swan and True Grit not only come out, but thrive, and have no chance of winning because Harvey Weinstein is a master of gaming the Oscar system."

I haven't seen it either but I've read a lot of that sentiment online. A lot of people at least thought David Fincher would've won Best Director, but that other no name did instead, mainly because Harvey Weinstein had him out schmoozing while Fincher was in Sweden making his next film.

All I gotta say is King's Speech must be one helluva movie to beat out True Grit. TG is an instant classic.
